Privacy Policy

Cats Build Ltd trading as ThinkingCats ("we", "us", "our") publishes PopMyVideo, a mobile video editing app that helps you turn raw clips into a finished cut by adding visual and sound effects. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use PopMyVideo on Android (com.thinkingcats.catcut) or iOS (com.thinkingcats.catcut).

By using PopMyVideo, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Use (EULA). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• A unique user identifier
• Authentication credentials (stored securely by our auth provider; we do not store your password in plain text)

Account sign-in is provided by Supabase.

User content

When you use the app, you may provide:

• Video clips stored on your device
• Project metadata (timeline structure, effect settings, project names)
• Exported videos you choose to save or share

Video files and project timelines remain on your device. We do not store your video library or editor projects on our servers.

Cloud AI processing

When you use AI features (shot analysis, visual effects generation, sound effects generation), portions of your video or derived frames may be sent to our Intelligence API and processed by third-party AI providers, including:

• Google Gemini (shot analysis and effect generation)
• fal.ai (media generation where applicable)

We send only what is needed to perform the requested feature. Your full video file stays on your device; we send compressed storyboard frames and audio from the selected window — not your entire library. Reference frames derived from your video are deleted after processing. We do not use your content to train public AI models on your behalf.

We may retain de-identified prompts, analysis text, and generated effect outputs in a shared technical cache to improve reliability and reduce processing cost. This cache is not linked to your account after you delete your account.

Purchase information

If you subscribe to Creator or Pro, payment is processed by the store where you subscribed:

• Android: Google Play Billing
• iOS: Apple App Store in-app purchases

We receive subscription status through RevenueCat (entitlement and renewal state tied to your account). We do not receive or store your full payment card number.

Subscriptions are auto-renewing. Billing, renewal timing, cancellation, free-trial terms, and refunds are governed by the store where you subscribed and are described in our Terms of Use (EULA).

Usage data

We record usage events to enforce monthly effect allowances and improve reliability, including:

• Feature type (e.g. VFX, SFX, shot analysis)
• Timestamps and quota debits
• Error and job status for generation requests

We do not use this data for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

How we use information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate you and sync projects across devices
• Process AI features you request (VFX, SFX, shot analysis)
• Enforce subscription plans and monthly effect limits
• Process subscriptions and restore purchases
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs
• Comply with legal obligations

How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us operate the app:

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or safety.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data retention

• Account data (email, user id, subscription state) is retained while your account is active.
• AI pipeline data tied to your account (generation jobs, shot analyses) is retained while your account is active.
• Reference images from your video are deleted after each AI generation completes.
• De-identified generation cache (prompts, analysis text, effect outputs without your user id) may be retained after account deletion to operate and improve the service.
• Usage and billing records are retained as needed for quota enforcement and legal compliance while your account is active.
• Video and projects on device remain under your control; uninstalling the app removes local app data.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Delete your account in the app: Account → Delete account & data. This removes your account, billing linkage, usage history, user-scoped AI data, and reference images from our servers. Local projects on your device are also cleared.

You can also contact us at the email below for access or deletion requests (for example if you cannot sign in).

You can cancel subscriptions anytime in Google Play → Subscriptions (Android) or Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions (iOS). Account deletion does not cancel store billing. See our Terms of Use for full subscription terms.

Children's privacy

PopMyVideo is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for data sent to our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to such transfers subject to applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Store privacy disclosures

Google Play (Android)

When completing the Play Console Data safety form, declare approximately:

• Data collected: Email, user IDs, app interactions, user-generated content (video sent for processing), purchase history (via Play/RevenueCat)
• Data shared: With service providers listed above
• Purpose: App functionality, account management, fraud prevention, analytics (quota metering only)
• Optional vs required: Account required for cloud sync and AI features; media access required for editing
• Encryption: Data encrypted in transit
• Deletion: In-app Account → Delete account & data; email fallback for locked-out users

Apple App Store (iOS)

When completing App Store Connect privacy labels, declare approximately:

• Data linked to you: Email, user ID, purchase history, product interaction (quota and feature usage)
• Data used for tracking: None — we do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking
• Purpose: App functionality, account management, subscription fulfillment
• Third-party SDKs: Supabase, RevenueCat, and AI providers listed above
• Deletion: In-app Account → Delete account & data; email fallback for locked-out users
